The Brief
Spice & Slice is an editorial spread designed as the perfect fall cookbook feature. The layout leads with a full-bleed pumpkin cheesecake photograph on the left, balanced by a secondary tart image and body copy on the right. A bold, condensed sans-serif headline anchors the top, while the body text is set in a justified serif that reads like a printed magazine. An italicized pull-quote breaks up the columns, drawing the eye to the emotional core of the piece — cozy evenings and family gatherings. The two-column footer text grounds the spread with recipe-style density, proving that editorial structure can make food photography feel both appetizing and literary.
Process
- 01Established a two-column grid with a dominant hero image on the left and a secondary image-plus-text block on the right.
- 02Chose a condensed uppercase sans-serif for the title to contrast with the justified serif body copy.
