The Brief
A personal character study exploring Moon Knight across multiple poses and treatments. The series moves from a painterly, textured cowl against a deep red background to loose charcoal sketches accented with pastel-blue scribbles and yellow stars. Each piece plays with the same visual motifs — the crescent emblem, the glowing eyes, the hooded silhouette — while shifting medium and mood. The suit-and-crescent-blade sketch grounds the character in his civilian identity, hinting at the duality at the heart of the character.
Process
- 01Established Moon Knight's core motifs — crescent moon, glowing eyes, hooded cowl — as recurring anchors across every sketch.
- 02Varied the medium per piece: painterly brushwork for the cowl, loose charcoal linework for the profile and suit sketches.
- 03Accented the sketches with pastel-blue scribbles and yellow stars to give the grayscale palette a sense of moonlight and energy.
